An innovative international design contest for designers and creatives under 35 to rethink the experience around pizza.
It is the product of the moment, a symbol of Made in Italy and most beloved in all corners of the world. We are talking about pizza, a real icon of food, so that the most important pizza chef are now devoted to real stars. Not surprisingly, there are millions of pizzerias spread across all continents and it is practically impossible to count the pizzas that are consumed daily by billions of lovers.

Despite everything, unlike other food-related situations, pizza and pizzeria seem to have lagged behind in relation to the consumer relationship, design of the premises, usability of the product and the new possible formats.
DESITA AWARD – Pizza Experience, is an international design contest that aims to bring innovation and topicality to the pizza world through the involvement of designers and creatives under 35. The initiative, conceived and promoted by DESITA (international reality specializing in the creation of brand, concept and format around the world), in collaboration with TUTTOFOOD and the QUALIVITA Foundation, wants to enhance, through the innovative and creative approach of designers, the experience around the pizza , from the service and customer standpoint.
“The intention is to rethink the “pizza experience”- explains Omar Cescut, project manager for DESITA – as well as studying new ways and means to relate to a developing consumer who eats pizza everywhere in the world. Then create forms, products, and experiences that can enhance the Made in Italy.”
In this sense DESITA can boast a happy experience with the AWARD dedicated to the gelato world. An initiative that only in the first edition has reached five continents and a community of 90,000 designers from dozens of countries and gaining good media coverage. Even if the second edition is just ended, the DESITA AWARD – Gelato Experience 2017 has reached a community of 2.5 million designers around the world, attracting the interest of university, magazine and industry professionals.
“Significant numbers – still emphasizes Cescut – but we are sure to be able to replicate and increase it thanks to the
indisputable appeal of the pizza. We are looking forward to many projects and, for this reason, we are setting up a high level jury, a mix of architects, designers and workmen who will not have the simple task of choosing the most interesting proposals that will come to us. “

The competition will end on September 30, 2017.
The winner will receive a cash prize and the opportunity to present the creative proposal to the market.

Three categories:

Tools and Packaging: Design or redesign tools, objects, accessories, packaging, etc. in order to improve the functionality, the food preparing and/or the fruition experience from the service and/or customer standpoint.
Interior & Interaction: Design or redesign of environments, furnishing elements, workstations, electronic devices/
applications, digital devices, etc. that could improve the food preparation and/or fruition experience from the service
and/or customer standpoint.
Food Design: Design or redesign effective solutions for food fruibility, new formats, storage elements, preservation and transportation, new materials, communication, etc. that could improve the food preparation and/or fruition
experience from the service and/or customer standpoint.
The award to its first edition enjoy the collaboration with important companies including: Moretti Spa, Roncadin Spa, San Benedetto SpA Mineral Water, PepsiCo Beverage Italia Srl, Molino Grassi Spa, GiMetal Srl, Prosecco DOC Consortium.
