The “einn“ chair and barstool were the first products in the ames collection, marking the beginning of the successful cooperation between the ames company, founded in 2006 by Colombian-born Ana Maria Calderón Kayser, and Icelandic designer Erla Sólveig Oskarsdóttir. The einn design brings together Icelandic dreamscapes and Colombian savoir vivre: combining clear lines with organic forms, the einn chair is made for modern and unconventional interiors while being multifunctional and flexible in use. Ames now offers the einn chair in a high-end leather finish.
Dynamic and curvy: the shape of the einn chair is reminiscent of both the expansive waves lapping on Iceland’s beaches and the swaying body of a Samba dancer. Erla Sólveig Oskarsdóttir combined these organic forms to create a chair whose backrest snuggles up to the body. The chair’s unique shape is made possible by using an innovative injection moulding process. The seat shell is almost entirely (75%) made from recycled, UV-resistant polypropylene with a tubular steel frame that comes in either a chrome plated or painted finish. The einn chair is 100% recyclable.
With the new leather finish, the einn chair is now available in a sophisticated, high-end design. The handmade leather covers come in six different colours: fango, testa moro, nero, nube, cognac and bordeaux. For the stitching, users can choose between colours that match the leather or an accent colour.
Stackable high flyer: einn is available as a stackable chair or in two stackable barstool designs with a height of either 67 cm for use at the kitchen counter or 80 cm for use at the bar or a bar table. Hence einn is suitable for both private and public interiors. In combination with the una table, also designed by Erla Sólveig Oskarsdóttir to go with the einn chair, you can fit out whole conference rooms, cafés or restaurants. The plastic version of the einn chair is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. The plastic seat shell is also available in six colours with an optional felt cushion for superior comfort in light grey, orange, lime green or black.
